About Us
Tara is a fine artist and recreational therapist specializing in work with Alzheimer's patients. She has
recently returned to school to pursue a nursing degree in order to further her work with the elderly.
Tara enjoys drawing and painting, and is well versed in numerous forms of fine art.

Tara's interest in reptiles began with the purchase of a green iguana named Iggy in the late 90's.
Iggy was a free-roaming house pet and her experiences with him led to the purchase of her first
corn snake, Skully, in 2006. Her current herp interests center on corn and ball python morphs, and,
very recently, tarantula spiders.

Lauren is a 2003 graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in fisheries science, and a 2007 graduate of
Towson University with a Master of Arts in Teaching. In 2004, she began teaching for Baltimore
County Public Schools as a high school biology teacher, where she remains today. Lauren often brings
"animal ambassadors" with her into the classroom to bring home key concepts of life science, such as
genetics and ecosystem health, and also to expose young people to the wonders of working with
animals and learning to appreciate and respect them.

Lauren's interest in reptiles began at the age of 10 when a reptile show came to the family
campground she stayed at as a child. At the end of the show, spectators were allowed to have their
picture taken with a 9' burmese python around their shoulders, and snakes and lizards have been of
significant interest ever since. It wasn't until 2005 that Lauren was able to purchase her first herp,
an albino Chacoan horned frog named Banana, and her collection has grown ever since.

In 2008, Lauren and Tara met via the web community and forums at
CornSnakes.com. A whirlwind
love affair quickly ensued along with discussions of potential crosses between their two collections,
and in early summer of 2009, Mason Dixon Reptiles was officially formed. With our two collections
merged, we now work happily to feed over 50 mouths, ranging from parrots to small mammals to our
numerous snakes, lizards and amphibians. Please visit our iHerp page (linked from our home page) to
